ALMADA NEGREIROS - PORTUGUESE MODERNISM

The symbol of Portuguese Modern Art and best friend of Fernando Pessoa, Almada Negreiros was a designer, a cartoonist-satirist, a poet, a playwriter, a writer, a painter and sculptor. There aren't enough words to describe an artist so talented as he was. We can find his picturesque works spreaded all over Lisbon - the stained glasses of Nossa Senhora de Fátima Church, wall paintingas at Gare Maritima de Alcântara and Gare Maritima Rocha Conde de Óbidos, the facades of the University campus of Lisbon's buildings. After 24 years without an anthological exhibition, Gulbenkian Foundation gathered over 400 works of this multifaceted artist, staged throughout eight different cores of his art, not obeying chronology but rather unraveling Almada Negreiros's artistic expressions. This is definitely an exhibition you don't want to miss, until the 5th of June, at Gulbenkian Foundation.
